Kidney stones (urolithiasis) form when minerals and salts crystallize in the kidneys, producing stones that can obstruct the urinary tract and cause severe, colicky pain (renal colic), nausea, and blood in the urine. Kidney stone treatment is available through Dr. Green's office, where each patient undergoes a thorough metabolic evaluation to identify stone composition and underlying risk factors — reducing the likelihood of recurrence. Dr. Green does provide counselling for kidney stone prevention.

Small stones often pass spontaneously with hydration and medical expulsive therapy. For larger or obstructing stones, Dr. Green offers ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for complex renal calculi. Treatment selection depends on stone size, location, composition, and the patient's anatomy and overall health.
